Charitable Giving Strategies
Charitable giving strategies can reduce your tax burden while supporting the causes that matter most to you. We guide physicians in selecting the charitable giving approach that best fits their tax situation, estate plan, and philanthropic goals.
Donor-Advised Funds: A DAF allows you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then select the gift amount and charities of your choice over time. This gives you flexibility to “pre-fund” charitable giving in high-income years while investing the balance for future donations. By donating highly appreciated stocks the true cost to the donor can be decreased.
Qualified Charitable Distributions: If you are age 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to a qualified charity. QCDs count toward your required minimum distributions (RMDs) but are excluded from taxable income, making them one of the most tax-efficient ways to give.
